Hey — I’m Kyle Joeckel, and Summit Vetted is mine. I’m a lifelong snowboarder, Colorado born and raised, and I grew up riding the mountains out west. These days I’m a Midwest dad of three girls, and I’m teaching all of them to ride and ski young — which means I’m the guy in the lift line outfitting a whole family without going broke.

That’s exactly why I built this. Gear is expensive, the ski aisle on Amazon is buried in rebranded knock-offs, and most “best gear” lists just rank whatever pays the most. I’ve wasted money on junk goggles and gloves that died mid-season, and I don’t want you to.

How I vet gear

I only recommend real, named brands with verifiable specs — the stuff that actually holds up season after season. I say plainly what to skip, and I match every pick to the conditions you ride: flat light, deep cold, resort laps, or hiking for turns. Because I’m outfitting a family on a budget, I’m honest about where a cheaper pick is genuinely worth it — and where spending more actually matters.

I never invent ratings, star scores, or reviews. When I’ve put gear through real days on the mountain, I’ll tell you what I found firsthand — and I’ll always be straight about what a piece of gear can’t do.
